Epidemiology

Respiratory tract infection is the most common disease in humans, which can occur in any gender, age and region. It is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the population worldwide[1]. Common respiratory pathogens include novel coronavirus, Influenza A virus, Influenza B virus, Respiratory syncytial virus, Adenovirus, human metapneumovirus, rhinovirus, Parainfluenza virus type I/II/III, Bocavirus, Enterovirus, Coronavirus, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia pneumoniae, and Streptococcus pneumoniae, etc[2,3]. The symptoms and signs caused by respiratory infections are relatively similar, but the treatment methods, efficacy and course of infections caused by different pathogens are different[4,5]. Currently, the main methods used in laboratories to detect the above-mentioned respiratory pathogens include: virus isolation, antigen detection and nucleic acid detection, etc. This kit detects and identifies specific viral nucleic acids in individuals with signs and symptoms of respiratory infection, with typing detection of influenza viruses and coronaviruses, and combines with other laboratory results to provide aid to the diagnosis of respiratory pathogen infections. Negative results do not exclude respiratory viral infection and should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis, treatment, or other management decisions. A positive result cannot rule out the bacterial infections or mixed infections by other viruses that outside the test indicators. Experimental operators should have received professional training in gene amplification or molecular biology detection, and have relevant experimental operation qualifications. The laboratory should have reasonable biosafety prevention facilities and protection procedures.

Macro & Micro-Test Viral DNA/RNA Kit (HWTS-3017) (which can be used with Macro & Micro-Test Automatic Nucleic Acid Extractor (HWTS-3006C, HWTS-3006B)), and Macro & Micro-Test Viral DNA/RNA Kit (HWTS-3017-8) (which can be used with EudemonTM AIO800 (HWTS-EQ007)) by Jiangsu Macro & Micro-Test Med-Tech Co., Ltd.

The extracted sample volume is 200μL and the recommended elution volume is 150μL.
