Epidemiology
Scrub typhus is an acute febrile disease caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi (Ot) infection. Orientia scrub typhus is a Gram-negative obligate intracellular parasitic microorganism. Orientia scrub typhus belongs to the genus Orientia in the order Rickettsiales, family Rickettsiaceae, and genus Orientia. Scrub typhus is mainly transmitted through the bites of chigger larvae carrying pathogens. It is clinically characterized by sudden high fever, eschar, lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, and peripheral blood leukopenia, etc. In severe cases, it can cause meningitis, liver and kidney failure, systemic multi-organ failure, and even death.

Macro & Micro-Test General DNA/RNA Kit (HWTS-3019) (which can be used with Macro & Micro-Test Automatic Nucleic Acid Extractor (HWTS-EQ011)) by Jiangsu Macro & Micro-Test Med-Tech Co., Ltd. The extraction should be conducted according to the instruction for use of this extraction reagent. The extracted sample volume is 200μL, and the recommended elution volume is 100μL.
