Epidemiology
Chikungunya is an acute infectious disease caused by the chikungunya virus (CHIKV), transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, and characterized by fever, rash and joint pain. Chikungunya was confirmed to be prevalent in Tanzaniain 1952, and the virus was isolated in 1956. The disease is mainly prevalent in Africa and Southeast Asia, and has caused a large-scale epidemic in theIndian Ocean region in recent years [ 1 ] . The chikungunya virus has oneserotype and can be divided into three genotypes, namely the West Africantype, the Central-East-Southern African type and the Asian type [2] . Thechikungunya virus has now been found in more than 110 countries in Asia,Africa, Europe and the Americas [ 3 ] . The clinical symptoms of the diseaseare similar to those of dengue fever , and it is easy to misdiagnose. Althoughthe mortality rate is very low, it is easy to form large-scale outbreaks andepidemics in areaswith high mosquito density [ 4 ] .IgM and IgG antibodies in human whole blood, serum, or plasma samples ,and can be used as an auxiliary diagnostic tool for early chikungunya virusinfection in clinical practice. This kit is suitable for detecting Chikungunyaantibodies in individuals exhibiting certain symptoms
