West Nile Virus Nucleic Acid

West Nile virus is a member of the family Flaviviridae, genus Flavivirus, and is in the same genus as Japanese encephalitis virus, dengue virus, yellow fever virus, St. Louis encephalitis virus, hepatitis C virus, etc. In recent years, West Nile fever has caused epidemics in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, and has become the largest infectious disease currently affecting the United States. West Nile virus is transmitted through birds as reservoir hosts, and humans are infected through the bites of bird feeding (ornithophilic) mosquitoes such as Culex. Humans, horses, and other mammals become ill after being bitten by mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus. Mild cases may present with flu-like symptoms such as fever and headache, while severe cases may present with central nervous system symptoms or even death[1-3]. In recent years, due to the deepening of international exchanges and cooperation, exchanges between countries have become frequent, and the number of travelers has increased year by year. At the same time, due to factors such as the migration of migratory birds, the probability of West Nile fever being introduced into China has increased[4].
